Teenage Weight Loss Tips And Tricks To Live By That Work

By Diana Lensbury

Being a teenager is already a difficult task. You're discovering yourself and the world, you may be finding your place, or at least the place you do not want to be. It can be difficult to navigate the pathways for friendship, schooling and future, regardless of how much help you have. Add body image issues into the equation and it can make life a nightmare. There is no need to suffer inside about how you feel on the outside. Following a few teenage weight loss tips can help you get on track to a healthier you.

Remember, just because you are overweight, does not mean you are a bad person or an ugly person. Other people suffer from other types of body image issues they have no power to control. Carrying around some extra pounds is something you can do something about. So it's time to get started.

You need to get to know your body. It's important to know that your metabolism is just waiting to get going and is easier to kick start when you're younger. Every morning it's important to eat a well rounded breakfast. A bowl of oatmeal, a piece of fruit and some low fat milk will do your body good. Skipping breakfast only slows the weight loss process, so eat, but eat smart. No sodas, mocha's, goblets of juice, or pastries, sweets and other junk foods for breakfast. No need for extra calories.

Pack a healthy lunch which will satisfy your taste buds as well as get you through the day. Use whole grain breads for sandwiches with low fat condiments, lean meat and low fat cheese. Don't forget the veggies! Bring carrots or fruit instead of chips and crackers. It is even alright to pack couple of low fat cookies to round out your meal, but only a couple, just because they are low fat does not mean you need the whole box. If you buy your lunch, stay away from fried foods, french fries and pizza. Ask the staff what options are the healthy ones and stick with those.

For snacks try an apple, carrot sticks or a prepackaged 100 calories snack option. Do not hit the vending machine, just because licorice is fat free does not mean it is healthy. Avoid sodas as well as juice, there is no need to drink your calories. Some drink containers have more than one serving, which means you are having two glasses of juice totaling 300 calories in one sitting. If you are thirsty, drink water. In fact, you should be drinking water all day long, at least eight glasses per day.

Dinnertime can pose a problem if no one else is trying to be healthy. In order to stay on track, cut down on the amount of food you are eating, use a smaller plate if you have to and do not go back for seconds. Slow down while you are chewing and enjoy the meal. If you eat more slowly, you will be able to distinguish when you are full and then you can stop. Eating too fast will send you right past full into feeling like you will burst. Limit the extra fats you put on foods such as ranch, mayo and butter.

Now that you have an idea how to eat throughout the day, it is time to get some exercise. Make use of your P. E. Class for what it is intended to do, have you exercise. No better time to burn calories than in a class which was designed to do just that. Skip the ride home and walk, you can burn calories while getting to where you need to be. Ask your teacher about using the gym and walk a couple laps after school to add some punch to you diet.

It is important for everyone to be a healthy weight. Not because of how one looks, but because of how our bodies work. We need to take care of ourselves so we can live long and healthy lives and participate in the activities which interest us. It can be difficult to lose the pounds, but every day you put off trying, is one more day further away from reaching your goal. Put these teenage weight loss tips into action and soon you will see yourself as a different person.
